On August 22, 2025, Iryna Zarutska, a 23-year-old Ukrainian refugee fleeing the war in her homeland, was tragically stabbed to death at a light rail station in Charlotte, North Carolina. Just three years after escaping the horrors of the Russian invasion, Iryna’s life was violently cut short by a suspect with a violent criminal history. The unprovoked attack, which occurred in front of other passengers, sparked outrage and brought to light serious concerns about public transit safety, mental health care, and criminal justice gaps. None of the passengers stepped in to help the victim. Just carried on as nothing happened.
Part of the proceeds go to victim's family and dedicated charity.
